Stay In Line

Stay In Line

By Sheldon Hatch

With all of the fishing line available it can become a daunting task to figure out what to purchase. I am going to go through what I like to use in different situations to make it a little easier for you to stay in line.

All Around Performer

P-Line CX Premium is an all-around performer that makes an excellent trolling line because you can run 12 to 15 lb. test that has the same diameter as most 10 lb. monofilaments. This copolymer, fluorocarbon combination is very strong, thin, sensitive and has less stretch than average lines. It is great for long line trolling and pulling in-line planer boards for those great lakes walleye. The CX Premium also has great characteristics for contour trolling inland lakes. I have also found that this is my favorite line for casting cranks into cover and structure as the increased sensitivity really helps you feel those subtle strikes.

Spinner Heaven

P-Line Floroclear has a very thin diameter which allows you to tie spinners with 20 lb. test. This line is virtually invisible thanks to it's fluorocarbon coating. It is one of the best lines for strength and durability I have ever used for tying walleye spinners.

Brute Strength

P-Line Spectrex IV in 10lb. test is excellent line for bottom bouncing because it is both strong and it allows you to still feel everything. This braided line has almost no stretch which allows every element your bait comes in contact with to travel up the line for increased sensitivity. The 30lb. test is my go-to-line for pulling dipsy divers on the great lakes for those deep running walleye.
