Cabela’s Master Walleye Circuit (MWC) |

MWC Detroit and Lake Erie The day started off bad. We hit more floating debris on the run out and the transducer broke off the transom and flipped into the back of the boat. Once we arrived to our first spot we used the transducer on the bow mount to get us setup and then once all the rods where out I managed to fix the transducer by temporarily mounting it to one of the cable strap screws. Talk about finessing. Minutes into our first trolling run we had two fish in the live well but after weaving through all the local boats anchored and jigging we decided to move out and away from the pack because the constant reeling in and adjusting in-line boards was making it difficult to control depth. It was a great team decision as we managed to land a couple of nice eight pound walleye on or first pass. We started working the school and by 9am we had already started culling fish. We must have handled well over 45 fish by the time 2pm rolled around and we packed up to make the 45 minute run back. On day two most weights had dropped, but we managed to move up in the standings to place 54th and had a 22.25 pound bag for a tournament total of 37.83. At the weigh in one of the teams with the big weight of the day mentioned on stage they caught all their big fish in the bay we fished on day one. Oh well, that's tournament fishing and we had to stick to our plan. We knew going into this tournament we had to have two days with approximately 25 pounds per day to finish well. |

Heading out on day two
It was great fishing with John and we are already talking about next season on the Master Walleye Circuit. We had a strong second day and did pretty good considering we had no information on the Lake bite and had to figure it out quickly, not to mention the technical challeges we overcame. This tournament had many professional anglers from the FLW all competing for top spot and we finished strong against some of the best in the walleye fraternity. Next stop on the MWC is Henderson Harbor located on Lake Ontario in early June.
Enjoy the upcoming walleye opener and try to introduce a kid to fishing this summer.
